From sci-fi to reality: AI just organized my decade of files.

It figured out patterns I never even saw myself.

What strikes me is how this shifts the role of chance in our lives. When an AI sorts our photos, it removes the random joy of stumbling upon an old picture you forgot. We used to find meaning in those accidents, now a machine dictates the connections. It makes me wonder if we're outsourcing our own memories to algorithms. The patterns it sees might be useful, but they're also its own bias, not ours. We risk losing the personal touch in our own histories.

That line about it figuring out patterns you never saw hits home. My buddy had a similar thing happen with his photos. Some AI tool sorted years of pics by themes he didn't even know he had, like all the shots of his dog near windows. He said it was creepy but also kind of amazing, like having a ghost in the machine that knows your hobbies better than you do. Now he's got folders for things he never would have thought to make, and it's actually useful. Stuff like that makes me wonder what else we're missing until a computer points it out.

Last year, an AI labeled my family photos clutter, so how is that helpful?
