My cousin in Fresno bet me AI could not write a decent birthday toast, and now I owe him $20
Last month my cousin Marcus bet me 20 bucks that ChatGPT could not write a toast for his dad's 60th birthday party in Fresno. I said no way, it will sound like a robot reading a manual. So we sat at his kitchen table and typed in a few details about his dad, like how he fixes bikes for the whole neighborhood and always burns the burgers on purpose. The thing came back in like 8 seconds and honestly it was pretty good. It had a joke about the burnt burgers and a line about the bike tools that made Marcus's mom tear up when he read it out loud. I still think it needed a human touch, we cut two lines that felt too stiff, but the bones of it were solid. What got me is it nailed the small stuff, like calling him Papa Joe instead of Joseph, which we never even typed in, it just guessed from context. So now I am out 20 bucks and kind of impressed. Has anyone else used AI for a speech or toast and had it actually land, or did yours bomb in front of a crowd?
