A homeowner's comment about door sensors made me rethink my whole install approach

Last Tuesday I was finishing up a retrofit in a 1970s ranch over in Maplewood. The owner watched me mount a recessed sensor and said, "You know, my last guy put those in every window but never checked if the magnets actually lined up after the paint dried." I laughed, then checked my own work and found two that were off by a hair. That comment stuck with me because I've been installing for 9 years and I never re-verified after final trim. Has anyone else had a customer casually point out something that changed your checklist for good?
