Warning: Hardwired vs wireless for a ranch house outside Austin

I spent last week deciding between a hardwired system and a wireless one for a 3,000 square foot ranch house. Tried the wireless first but the signal dropped near the metal roof, so I ripped it all out and ran wired instead. Has anyone else found wireless unreliable in older homes with thick walls?

Preach, metal roofs and thick plaster are a wireless nightmare, wired is the only way to go.

Wireless is fine till you hit one metal stud and it all falls apart.

Dude tell me about it. I tried wiring up my buddy's place out in Kerrville last summer, his place has this old stone foundation from the 1800s. The wireless router just straight up refused to work past the living room, kept dropping every time someone walked past the fireplace flue. So we ended up running Cat6 through the attic, a real sweaty mess in July. But at least now his security cameras actually stay connected, unlike my sister's place where her wireless doorbell chimes randomly at 3AM because a possum farts near the sensor.
