Debate: Should we keep bones in storage or rebury them after study?

I worked on a dig in Colorado last month where we found a set of 1,000-year-old human remains. The team argued for days whether to store them for future research or give them back to the local tribe for reburial. What side do you lean on for this kind of find?

Oh man, that's a tough spot. I remember back in '08 when my cousin's crew found a musket ball near an old battlefield and the local historical society went back and forth for months about whether to display it or bury it with a plaque. Ended up sitting in a box in some guy's garage until his wife made him donate it to a museum anyway.
