Found a Roman coin hoard in Somerset that made one weekend feel like a whole season
Two summers back I went out with my dad's old detector to a field near Ilchester and dug up 47 silver denarii in about six hours, which is more than I'd found in the previous three seasons combined. I remember sitting in the truck afterward, hands shaking, trying to figure out if I was looking at a scattered loss or a real buried hoard. The weird part is that nothing since has come close, and I've gone back to that same field at least a dozen times. Has anyone else had one crazy day that just ruined normal detecting for them?
