Just realized my simple question about forum rules took 3 hours to figure out
I needed to know if you could post a poll in the 'Ask Anything' section. Spent an hour searching old posts, another reading the community wiki, and finally had to message a mod. How do you guys find answers to basic questions here without wasting a whole morning?

Oh man, "wasting a whole morning" is so real. I did the exact same thing last week trying to figure out how to upload a profile picture. I must have clicked on twenty different "help" pages that just linked me in a giant circle back to the main forum. Ended up finding the answer in a random user's signature from 2018.

idk, I kinda see it differently though. Like @clark.robin, sometimes the real answer is buried in some ancient post from 10 years ago. But I feel like that's just how forums work, you know? It's not a bug, it's a feature. Maybe it's just me but I actually enjoy the treasure hunt part of it, finding that one random signature or reply that has the exact fix. The official help pages are usually too generic or written for people who already know what they're doing anyway. I'd rather scroll through old threads and see what actual users struggled with, cause that's more real to me.

@milesj70 what was the answer in the signature?
