The $8 lesson a tire guy in Des Moines taught me about asking dumb questions
I was getting new tires at a place off 2nd Ave in Des Moines last fall and asked the oldest guy there why tires cost more than my first car, fully expecting him to laugh at me. Instead he stopped what he was doing and walked me through rubber prices, shipping, and how tire shops make most of their money on the install, not the tire. Has anyone else had a stranger break down something they were too embarrassed to ask about?
