My 10 inch Dobsonian showed me more than my $600 refractor ever did
Honestly, I spent two years squinting through that 80mm refractor and barely saw more than a smudge on Saturn. Then I borrowed my buddy's 10 inch Dobsonian last weekend out near Lake Elsinore. First look at the Orion Nebula and I saw actual structure, colors, the whole thing blew my mind. The difference was just pure aperture, no fancy coatings or brand name needed. I wish I had saved the cash and gone for a dobsonian right from day one. Anyone else have a telescope that totally changed what they thought they were seeing?

Saw something similar with my first telescope, ended up tripping over it in the dark and that changed how I saw things too.
