Put a $30 catch can on a 2019 Silverado and now the intake looks worse
Customer wanted one of those oil catch cans on his 5.3 Silverado, so I installed a $30 Amazon unit back in March. Two weeks later he came back with a rough idle and a check engine light, and the can had filled with sludge that smelled like raw gas. Turns out the cheap baffle let liquid get pulled straight into the intake, so I pulled it and told him to run the PCV system stock. If you're going to run one, get a can with a real internal baffle and check it every 1,000 miles, not every oil change. Anyone else see these cheap cans cause more problems than they solve?
