Found out my last shop's wiring harness repair logs were off by 40% from a routine FAA audit.

I saw the discrepancy report from the audit last Tuesday and it showed we'd mislabeled 12 out of 30 repairs over six months, has anyone else caught big errors like that in their own records?

Oh man, "routine FAA audit" really jumped out at me because it's the same kind of thing that happens with so many records in life. It's like when you keep your car's oil change log and suddenly realize you skipped two changes because you just forgot to write them down. That 40% number is huge, but honestly I bet most people's home maintenance logs or even their own calendar entries have similar hidden gaps we just never catch. It makes you wonder how many other systems we rely on have those same invisible gaps, just waiting for someone to actually check.

Hang on, that 40% number isn't quite right. I read the report too and it was 40% of the planes had at least one record issue, not that 40% of all records were wrong. Big difference. It means 6 out of 15 planes had a missing log or something, which is still bad but not as crazy as every third record being fake. The oil change example is good but think of it more like 6 out of 15 cars having one skipped oil change in their entire history, not that 40% of all oil changes were missed. Still a problem, just not the same scale.
