Just realized my ultra-light tent is a total waste in the rain
Ngl, I bought a $400 DCF tent everyone raved about online, but after 3 nights of drizzle in Washington last month, I got soaked through the seams. Anyone else ditch the hype and go back to a heavy sil-nylon setup?

Yeah that actually changes my mind about DCF gear.

Ditched my DCF shelter halfway through a trip in the Smokies last spring after waking up in a puddle from seam creep. Switched to a silpoly mid and it's been night and day different. Even in heavy downpours where my old cuben setup would start wetting out at the seams, this thing just sheds water like nothing. Wasn't cheap but I'd rather carry an extra few ounces and actually stay dry. You ever try one of the budget silpoly tents or just stuck with the heavier brands?

Yeah DCF seam taping is garbage in real wet conditions, pure and simple. Switched back to a sil-poly tent last season and stayed bone dry through a week of PNW mist. Sometimes heavy and cheap just works better.
