The map hack that saved my JMT reroute last month

Got caught with trail closures near Red's Meadow and my paper map was useless for finding alternates. Tried downloading a few apps but everything needed signal or drained battery. Finally just traced the topo lines onto a ziploc bag with a sharpie, worked way better than I expected. Anyone else still using old school tracing tricks when the route goes sideways?
