The 'gourmet' salt block that came with zero instructions
My aunt gave me a giant pink salt block for Christmas, said it was for grilling. I put it straight on the gas burner like a cast iron pan. Ten minutes later, the thing cracked in half with a pop so loud my dog hid under the couch. Smoke filled the kitchen and we ate pizzas from a place called Mario's that night. Has anyone else gotten a kitchen gadget that should have come with a warning label?
Oh man, that sucks. Salt blocks are tricky, they need to heat up slow and even, not slammed on a gas flame. That pop sound must have been terrifying, poor dog. At least Mario's saved the night, but I bet that smoke smell hung around for days. It's crazy how these things come with zero warnings when they can literally explode. Hope your kitchen recovered, and honestly, you were brave to try it at all.
