Watched the new Total Recall remake last night and realized something

I was flipping through channels around 3 AM during my night shift break and caught that 2012 Total Recall remake. Within ten minutes I was yelling at the TV about how they removed the whole Mars plot (which was the whole point of the original, right?). My coworker asked what I was so mad about and I just pointed at Kate Beckinsale's character being a generic villain instead of the original's complex wife. Has anyone else noticed how these remakes strip out the weird creative bits that made the originals memorable?

That "generic chase movie with a budget" line hits hard. It's the same thing happening everywhere now, not just movies. Even at the grocery store they keep swapping out the weird local brands for the same bland stuff. Nobody wants to take risks anymore.

Man, preach. They sanded off all the weird edges and just left a boring action flick.

Man that remake was something else. I fell asleep halfway through and honestly didn't miss a thing. The original was weird and creative with the three boobs and the whole Mars colony vibe, but this one just felt like a generic chase movie with a budget. It's like they looked at the source material and said, "Nah, let's keep the least interesting parts." Pretty sure I've seen more creativity in a late night infomercial.
