Pro tip: Park your trash cans on your own side of the property line

Honestly, I never thought much about where I put my bins until last Tuesday. My neighbor in Phoenix got super aggressive about me putting them near his driveway, even though it was like 6 inches over the line. I moved them to the exact edge of my yard and now he still complains about the wind blowing trash his way. Some people just want to fight over anything. Anyone else have a neighbor who treats the trash can spot like it's sacred ground?

You mentioned "the wind blowing trash his way" and thats actually a real thing people dont think about. If your bins are right on the property line and its a windy area, maybe try bungee cording the lids shut or putting a small sandbag in the bottom to keep stuff from flying. Might save you a headache even if your neighbor is being unreasonable about where exactly they sit.

Wait, @rubyschmidt, your neighbor actually spray painted a line on his own lawn over a trash can? That is next level crazy. Would drive me absolutely bonkers if someone pulled a tape measure and spray paint over six inches of plastic bin. Some people really do need to find a hobby that involves literally anything else besides measuring garbage.

Last Tuesday I watched my neighbor in Phoenix actually stand in his yard with a tape measure and mark where my bin touched the grass. I thought he was kidding but he pulled out a spray paint can and drew a line right down the property edge. I moved my bin three feet away from his side and he still came over saying the smell of my trash was drifting into his open kitchen window. Now I put my bins out at exactly 10pm the night before pickup just to avoid him, but he works night shift so hes home and ready to argue at 9pm. I honestly think some people just need a hobby that doesn't involve measuring other peoples garbage containers.
