Just realized my neighbor has named three different cats 'Kevin' over the past four years in Boise
I used to think giving every cat the same boring name was lazy until I watched him call all three of them at once last Tuesday and every single one came running, so who's really winning here, and does anyone else think repeated pet names might actually be genius?
My buddy Dave in Tucson did this with dogs, had two labs both named Gus, got them like three years apart. The first Gus learned his name fine but the second Gus just copied everything the first one did so Dave never really had to train him. When old Gus died last spring the new Gus just kept on answering to it like nothing changed. Whole thing saved Dave a ton of hassle at the dog park too because he could yell one name and both of them would look up. I always gave him grief about it but now I'm starting to think he cracked some kind of code. Three cats coming to the same name at once is legit impressive.
