Unpopular opinion: giving your dog a normal name like Steve makes the bad name stories way funnier
Last month I started keeping a list of pet names I hear at the dog park near my place in Sacramento, and I noticed the worst ones all follow the same trick. People take a totally normal human name and slap it on a pet with zero warning, so you get a golden retriever named Kevin or a cat named Deborah. The funny part is not the name itself, it is watching someone yell "Kevin, stop eating that" across a field and seeing three people turn around. My neighbor has a chihuahua named Gary and I honestly think about it more than I should. What is the most normal human name you have heard on a pet, and did it make you do a double take?
