Can we talk about how my aunt in Tulsa said never buy a mattress on sale, and she was dead wrong?
My aunt sold furniture for 19 years in Tulsa. When I moved into my first apartment back in March she sat me down and gave me the one rule she swore by: never buy a mattress on sale, because a sale mattress means they cut corners to make up the price. Sounded smart. So I paid $1,400 for a full size at regular price. Six weeks later my back hurt so bad I was sleeping on the couch. My roommate got the same brand on a Memorial Day sale for $620. Same coils, same warranty card, literally the same model number on the tag. The only thing that changed was the price and the free pillows they threw in. So either my aunt was wrong or the mattress store pulled one over on both of us. I lean toward my aunt being wrong. Anyone else get a rule like this from a relative that fell apart the second you tested it?
