A retirement barber warned me about sanitizer, 2 months later I get it
Old Mike who cut hair downtown for 40 years told me to stop using that spray sanitizer on my clippers and start using the dip. I thought he was just stuck in his ways, you know, old timer stuff. Then I noticed my blades were dulling way faster and rust spots showed up after about 8 weeks. He said the alcohol in the spray dries out the metal and the plastic guards crack over time. Switched to a proper barbicide jar and my gear feels smoother already. Has anyone else had a senior barber drop some random tip that turned out to save your tools?
Your dull blades could just be cheap steel and that rust might be from humidity in your shop, not the spray. Barbicide jars get gross fast if you don't change the juice daily and plenty of guys end up with gunky buildup that does more harm than good. Old Mike probably had a bad batch of clippers once and blamed the spray instead of the metal.
