Can we talk about that barber shop in Austin that charges $80 for a basic fade?

Went down to Austin last month for a buddies wedding and stopped into this trendy spot off South Congress. Dude was nice enough but it was a 45 minute wait and then he hit me with $80 for a standard fade and lineup. No beard trim or anything extra. I get that Austin has gotten expensive but thats steep for something I can get for $25 back home in Ohio. Is this normal now in big cities or did I just hit the wrong place? Has anyone else run into pricing like this?

Man, 45 minutes for a walk-in at a trendy spot is actually pretty decent though. Most of those places on South Congress make you book days ahead and still keep you waiting. But yeah, $80 for a basic fade without even a hot towel or anything is wild, that's like LA or NYC pricing right there. You probably just hit the wrong spot, there's still solid barbers around Austin for $40-$50 if you know where to look.

Dude totally agree on the $80 being way too much for something that basic. My buddy went to this spot down on Rainey last month and paid $75 for a cut that took like 20 minutes and the barber barely talked to him. But I had this funny thing happen once where I waited at a place for almost an hour and then the guy gave me this weird combover that made me look like a middle school principal. I walked out and just wore a hat for two weeks until it grew out. Point is you really gotta shop around and ask around cause prices are all over the place in this city now. My regular guy charges $50 and he remembers your name and what you ordered last time.
