I spent $200 on a fancy digital thermometer and it was a total waste

I got convinced by all the hype that I needed a super high-end probe for my brisket. Used it twice and the thing just died, wouldn't hold a connection to the base unit. Customer service said it was water damage from normal use, which is crazy. I'm back to my old $40 analog one and the meat turns out the same. Anyone have a reliable digital brand that actually lasts?

Why does everything expensive seem to break faster than the cheap stuff?

My buddy Mark bought a $400 coffee maker last year. The grinder started making a metal-on-metal sound after eight months. He said his old $30 drip machine ran for a decade without a single issue.

My grandma's 1980s blender still works, but my new one died in a year lol.
