Saw a mom at the Des Moines zoo let her kid bang on the glass for 10 min while the gorilla just sat there
I was at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines last weekend and watched this play out for a solid 10 minutes. The kid, maybe 4 years old, kept slapping the glass right where the big silverback was sitting, and the mom just stood there on her phone. Part of me wanted to say something to her about how that stresses the animal out. The other part of me thought, it's a zoo, kids are loud, the gorilla has seen way worse. About 6 other parents were giving her dirty looks but nobody actually spoke up. Where's the line between minding your own business and saying something for the animal's sake? Would you have said something or just walked away?
