Spent 45 minutes trying to fix my parents' router, turns out it was unplugged the whole time
I drove 20 minutes to my folks' place in Oak Park because they swore their internet was "broken." My dad, a solid Boomer, insisted he checked all the cords. After unplugging and resetting everything for nearly an hour, I noticed the power brick wasn't even in the wall socket. Has anyone else had a family member swear they checked something that was clearly not checked?

I've noticed that "I checked everything" often means "I glanced in the general direction of things." It seems like a bigger pattern where people will insist they've done something just to avoid admitting they didn't really look.

Yeah that's honestly too real. People will swear up and down they "checked everything" when they barely gave it a once over.
