Update: My mom said 'we'll see' to everything for 18 years and I finally caught myself doing it at work
Last Tuesday I was on a call with a client in Baltimore and instead of giving them a yes or no on a deadline I said 'we'll see how it goes.' I hung up and just sat there because that was my mom's whole thing growing up. Every question got a 'we'll see,' which really meant no but she didn't want to say it. Can we go to the pool? We'll see. Can I sleep over at Ryan's? We'll see. I'm 33 and until last week I thought that was a normal thing parents say. My girlfriend pointed out I do it too, and she's not wrong. I said 'we'll see' about her sister's wedding in September and she called me out on it right there in the kitchen. So the win here is I actually caught it and gave my client a real answer the next morning. Anyone else grow up with a parent who never said a straight no, just buried you in maybes until you stopped asking?
