Bought a cheap pressure gauge from an online auction and it cost me a day's work
It was a brand called 'SureRead' and the needle stuck at 150 psi during a hydro test. We had to stop the whole job at the plant in Toledo, drain the system, and put a certified gauge on. That mistake wasted about 8 hours of crew time. Has anyone found a reliable supplier for test gauges that won't fail like that?

Oh man, that's brutal. The name 'SureRead' is pretty ironic when it definitely did not make sure you read the right pressure. I've seen those bargain bin gauges before and they're basically just for show. That's a crazy expensive lesson though, losing a whole day over a twenty dollar part. Never cheap out on the stuff that can shut down a whole site. My rule is if the job depends on it, buy from a real industrial supplier, not some random online auction.

But what if the cheap part works fine ninety-nine times out of a hundred?

Wait, they lost a whole day over a twenty dollar part? That's insane.
