Lost a full day's pay because I trusted a cheap knock-off tube bender from a swap meet.
The thing kinked a 4-inch stainless line on a simple 90-degree bend, and now I'm out $600 in material and labor for a job that should have taken two hours.

Yeah, but a factory reject? That's a bit much. It's a swap meet, you're basically buying a mystery box. charlieb67's torque wrench story is the same deal. Sometimes the cheap tool works fine, sometimes it eats your lunch. It's a known risk, not some grand conspiracy.

Man, that's brutal. I saw a post somewhere about how those swap meet tools are often factory rejects that didn't pass quality checks. It makes sense when you hear a story like yours. Reminds me of what charlieb67 said about his torque wrench, some tools just can't be trusted on a real job. Do you think you'll try to get your money back from the seller?
