My 5-year-old beveling machine finally gave up on a job in Tulsa

Last Thursday I was prepping a 3/4 inch plate for a tank repair and the motor on my old beveler started smoking halfway through a 20 foot pass. It had been sounding rough for a couple weeks, but I kept pushing it. I had to borrow a grinder from the other crew just to finish the edge for the weld test. Anyone else had a tool die right in the middle of a time-sensitive prep and had to switch methods on the fly?
