Finally figured out the trick to keeping discussion threads on track during heated debates

I started using a simple timer for each person's comments at our last meeting and it cut the rambling in half, has anyone else tried something like that to keep the group focused?

Totally agree, putting a time limit on comments was a game changer for my group too. We started doing two minutes per person and it really stopped one or two people from taking over the whole conversation. It forces everyone to get to the point and keeps the energy up.

Two minutes per person" sounds like a nightmare to me. Some of the best ideas come from people who need a sec to think out loud, and cutting them off just rewards whoever talks fastest.
