Our book club split over a 400 page thriller and I'm on the weird side
Last month in Austin, our club of 8 read that big bestseller about the detective in the snow. Everyone hated the slow middle and said it dragged for 150 pages. I actually liked that part because it built the town's mood, and the ending hit harder for me because of it. We spent 45 minutes debating it, and I was the only one defending it. Has anyone else been the lone voice for a book everyone else called boring?

Man, that slow middle is exactly why I liked it too... pacing like that sets up everything, and the payoff just lands different when you've sat in the mood for a while.
