Appreciation post: the old timer who told me to wet my brick tongs was right

Had a guy named Ray on a job in Bakersfield tell me to dunk my tongs in the water bucket before grabbing a stack, said the rust was making them slip. I blew him off for two weeks until I dropped a brick on my boot, and sure enough after wetting them I haven't dropped one since. Any of you got a small trick like that you picked up from somebody on site?
