Hold on, your travel insurance card might be a lie

I was double checking my policy before a trip to Lisbon and found out a specific fact that surprised me: my 'worldwide' coverage actually excludes a huge list of countries unless I pay an extra $35 a month to extend it. It was buried in the 22 page PDF. Has anyone else been burned by reading the fine print of their plan's fine print?
