Pro tip: my $1,247 emergency fund hit shocked me, I thought I only had $400 saved
I opened my savings app last Friday night while waiting for a pizza and saw a number I didn't believe, $1,247. I always figured I had maybe $400 in there because I only move $25 over every payday and it feels like nothing. Turns out those tiny transfers plus a $300 tax refund I forgot about plus skipping takeout twice a week for 6 months actually stacked up. I used to think you needed to save hundreds at a time for it to count, but seeing that number on the screen proved me wrong. Has anyone else been surprised by what small auto transfers added up to?
