Hot take: a $9 rice cooker serving spoon stopped me from burning 6 batches of rice
I know a rice cooker is supposed to do all the work, but the cheap plastic paddle that came with mine was garbage, so I was using a metal spoon and scraping the bottom of the pot every single time. After batch 6 came out crunchy on the bottom and mushy on top, I got mad and bought a $9 silicone-coated rice paddle from a store in Sacramento, and it fixed everything. The scoop has a flat edge that gets under the rice without scratching the nonstick coating, which my old metal spoon was destroying. I also started measuring water with the same cup, 1 to 1.25, and now it comes out perfect. Anyway, my question is, is it worth spending $40 on a fancy rice cooker when a $9 spoon solved my problem?
