I finally stopped buying cheap trash bags after the third blowout

I used to grab whatever 13-gallon bags were on sale at the grocery store. Then last month I had three bags split open in two weeks. One dumped coffee grounds all over my kitchen floor at 6am. My neighbor told me he only buys Glad ForceFlex and has never had a tear in five years. I tried a box and it's been a month with zero issues. Has anyone else noticed a huge difference between brand names on something as basic as trash bags?

Has their dog ever gotten into the trash with those ForceFlex bags? My neighbor swore by them too until her golden retriever tore right through one and spread eggshells and chicken bones across the whole kitchen. I switched to the heavy duty contractor bags after that, they're like 3 mil thick and cost about the same per bag. Now I buy the 20 count boxes at the hardware store and they last me three months even with food scraps.

Wait, have you actually tested that though? I mean contractor bags are thick but they're also stiffer and louder, so I wonder if the crinkly noise would make a dog even more curious. My cousin had a lab that chewed through a thick trash bag just because the sound got him excited, like he thought it was a toy. And eggshells and chicken bones, that's scary because those can hurt a dog's stomach bad. Did your neighbor's dog end up okay after that mess, or did they have to take him to the vet?
