My uncle in Toledo swore by the $19 Harbor Freight angle grinder, and it quit on cut number 6
When I told my uncle I needed to cut some rebar for a fence project, he laughed at me for looking at the $89 DeWalt and promised the cheap one would do the job just fine. It cut through five pieces okay, then the sixth one smoked it out and the switch stuck on. I ended up driving 40 minutes to a real hardware store for a replacement anyway, so the $19 saved me nothing. Has anyone found a cheap grinder that actually survives more than one afternoon, or is this just how it goes?
