So I was installing a custom vanity in a client's powder room last month

The space was super tight, maybe 30 inches wide, and I had to slide the whole assembled cabinet in from the side. I got it halfway through the door and it just... stopped. Turns out the client's cat had snuck in and was sleeping in the sink cutout. I had to gently wiggle the whole thing back out, scoop up a very confused orange tabby, and start over. Anyone else had a pet completely derail a simple install?

That's a perfect example of how pets have a sixth sense for finding the warm spot in the middle of a project. It's never when you're just sitting around, it's always when you're elbows deep and trying to focus. They seem to treat any new object, especially one that fits them just right, as a personal gift. Makes you wonder if they do it on purpose just to watch us work around them.

Used to think it was random, but @jason168 might be onto something.

Honestly I've started to believe it's about the smell. Fresh paper, warm electronics, even the glue in a new book. It's like they're drawn to the strongest scent in the room, which is ALWAYS whatever you're actively using. They're not trying to be a pain, they're just following their nose to what smells the most interesting, which sadly is your work.
