Vent: talked to a client yesterday who wanted his cabinets 'done by Friday'

I had a guy call me up Tuesday morning asking if I could build him a full custom kitchen set by Friday. He said he saw a YouTube video where a guy did it in 2 days. I had to explain how joinery and drying time actually work. Has anyone else had clients who think this stuff is like assembling IKEA furniture?

I mean come on, you're telling me with all the CNC machines and pocket hole jigs and fast-drying glues out there nowadays it's not possible to knock out a basic cabinet box in a day or two? I've seen guys on Instagram bang out a whole set of shaker doors in an afternoon with a good router table setup. Your average homeowner doesn't care about your dovetail joints or your hand rubbed shellac finish, they just want something that holds plates and doesn't fall apart for a few years. Maybe we're all just gatekeeping woodworking because we like being the only ones who can do it fast.

Always start by showing them a glue drying chart.
