Appreciation post: The tiny shutter screw that took me 3 hours and a magnet
I spent 3 hours last Tuesday chasing a shutter screw inside a Minolta SRT101 because it popped out of my tweezers and rolled into the body cavity. I tried a magnetic pickup tool but it just dragged the screw deeper into the mirror box. I ended up taking off the bottom plate and shaking the whole camera over a towel until it fell out. My back hurt from hunching over the bench, but the camera fired fine after. Has anyone else had a screw vanish into a body and found a trick to fish it out without a full teardown?
