My aching back felt better with a new sleeping pad

I used to wake up with a sore back every morning while camping. My old sleeping pad was too thin and gave no help. After looking into it, I bought a self-inflating pad with more cushion. Now I sleep all night and wake up feeling good. What sleep gear has helped you on your outings?

Oh man, I feel that. I spent years just toughing it out on a basic foam pad, and my hips would kill me. Switching to a good insulated air pad was a total game changer for cold weather trips. Honestly, even just adding a fleece sleeping bag liner for a little extra cushion has helped me a ton.

My buddy Jake tried to save weight on a hike by using a thin foam pad. He spent the whole next day complaining about his back and hips. Now he carries a bit more weight for a thick pad and sleeps like a baby.

It's funny how some people treat back pain like a merit badge for camping. They'll brag about "roughing it" while walking like a question mark by noon. My old pad was so thin I could identify individual pine cones through it. Upgrading felt less like buying gear and more like admitting I enjoy basic comfort.
