Saw a dead show's set at a museum in Baltimore and now I'm mad all over again
Went to the Geppi museum in Baltimore last month and they had a whole case of props from The Wire, including a fake payphone and some crime board photos. Whole time I'm standing there thinking how that show never got the ending it should have, and the placard didn't even mention the canceled spinoff that got killed. I asked the guy at the desk if they ever get requests for the show's stuff and he said people ask about a revival almost daily. It got canceled after 5 seasons and still nobody has matched that level of writing. Does anyone know if the cast ever said they'd come back for a short run?
My brother worked at the Geppi for two years and he said the same thing about people asking for Wire stuff. Tbh I used to think a revival was a bad idea because shows like that should just stay done, but then I read that David Simon said he'd only come back if he had a real story to tell and the cast has mostly said they'd do it for him. Dominic West and Michael K. Williams both talked about it before he passed, and Wendell Pierce has said he'd be in for a short run in a heartbeat. Standing in front of that payphone case would probably flip anybody, because five seasons of that writing is more than most shows get in ten. Ngl the part that gets me is the spinoff getting killed, that one still stings and nobody even talks about it.
