The 2005 remake ruined my favorite sci-fi show, but the 2024 spin-off actually fixed it

I've been rewatching both back to back this week. The old version had this slow burn mystery that kept you guessing, new one just dumped all the answers in episode 2. But the spin-off brought back the original writer who did the first 2 seasons, and suddenly the pacing feels right again. It took 19 years but they finally figured out what made it work. Has anyone else seen a revival actually learn from the mistakes of a bad remake? Or am I just too attached to the old cast?
