Comparing the free resume teardown vs paying $120 for a pro rewrite, and I feel dumb about which one got me interviews
So 4 months ago I was applying to about 30 supply chain jobs around Cincinnati and getting zero calls back, and I was ready to drop $120 on one of those resume rewrite services a guy in my bowling league swore by. Before I paid, I tried the free teardown route instead, which for me meant posting my resume in two subreddits and emailing it to a recruiter friend who does hiring at a warehouse company in Dayton. That free feedback took about a week to come back but it was brutal in the best way. My buddy told me my bullet points listed duties like 'responsible for inventory' instead of results, and he asked me point blank what I actually fixed, so I rewrote three lines to say I cut weekly count errors from 22 down to 4 by switching to cycle counts. Two people on the subreddit said the same thing about dropping my 2015 high school job and moving my forklift cert up top. I sent out 12 applications with the free edited version and got 5 callbacks in 3 weeks, which is 5 more than the previous 30 got me. The paid service I skipped might have been fine but I never needed it. Has anyone here paid for a resume service and felt like the free feedback would've done the same job?
