I thought the 'dress for the job you want' thing was total nonsense until I got passed over for a dispatcher spot

My cousin worked at a call center for three years in hoodies. They hired a new guy in button downs who got promoted over him in six months. It sucks but it's a real thing. People judge your effort by your clothes before you even speak. I started tucking in my shirt after that and it actually made a difference.

Honestly, that's exactly why I started dressing a bit sharper for my warehouse shifts. Got me noticed for a lead role real quick.

Right? It's crazy how much a simple thing like a clean shirt can change how people see you. I used to wear old tees to my last job and just blended in with the wall. Started wearing plain polos and within a month my boss was asking if I wanted to help train new guys. They really DO notice when you look like you give a crap.
