Showerthought: I applied to 40 jobs with a generic resume and got nothing, then rewrote it for 3 listings and got 2 interviews
After 5 months of blasting the same resume everywhere from my apartment in Austin, I had zero calls and was starting to think my degree was useless. A recruiter I met at a meetup said to cut it to one page and swap in the exact words from each job posting, so I tried it on just 3 roles and got 2 callbacks in a week. Is tailoring every single resume worth the time if it means you can only apply to a few places a day, or should I be doing both?
