Took me 4 hours to figure out why my tomato plants kept dying, and it was one dumb thing
Back in May I planted six tomato starts in pots on my deck in Boise, and within two weeks four of them were brown and crispy no matter how much I watered. I blamed the soil, then the sun, then bugs, and even bought a $25 moisture meter before my neighbor pointed out the black plastic pots were cooking the roots from the side in direct afternoon heat. So my view is that container material matters way more than people admit, but maybe I just got unlucky with cheap pots, did anyone else learn this the hard way?
