Switched from TIG to MIG on 16 gauge steel and my production tripled
I was TIG welding 16 gauge steel enclosures at my shop in Tulsa and could only finish maybe 8 a day, plus the heat distortion was warping the panels bad. Switched to MIG with .023 wire and a smaller nozzle and knocked out 30 panels in the same 8 hour shift with way less warping. The TIG welds look nicer but when you're doing production runs, MIG just makes more sense. Anyone else made this switch or do you stick with TIG no matter what?
