A guy at HeroesCon said 'never chase variant covers' and my wallet had to learn the hard way
Back in 2021 I was at HeroesCon in Charlotte and this older dude at a booth saw me eyeing a foil variant of a Batman book. He told me flat out to skip them because they never hold value. I nodded and then dropped $180 on 6 variants anyway over the next few months. Fast forward to now and I checked eBay sold listings on 4 of them. Three are going for $8 to $12, which is brutal. The one exception was a low print run I got lucky on and it moved for $95. So he was mostly right and I was mostly stubborn. Anyone else get burned on variant hype or did some of yours actually pay off?
