Trying to explain comic book alternate worlds to my aunt went sideways

I was talking about how characters have different versions across stories. She got totally mixed up and started comparing it to her knitting patterns changing colors. What's your most awkward moment trying to share fan knowledge with someone?

I read a forum post where a guy explained the Spider-Verse to his dad. His dad kept asking if it was about actual spiders and got worried about infestation. Sometimes people's minds go to the most literal place possible.

Ugh, my friend's mom thought the multiverse was about baking shows.

How did she get that idea, lmao? The multiverse is actually about different worlds in sci-fi stories. Like in Marvel movies where there are alternate versions of characters. Think about "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" with all those different Spider-people. Baking shows are just about cakes and contests, not parallel universes. It's a funny mix-up but kind of makes sense if you're not into comics.
