Had to pick between a laser level and a water level for a small ceiling grid job in Austin

I was laying out a drop ceiling in a 400 square foot office space and couldn't decide if I should drop $150 on a laser level or just stick with my old water level for the layout... I went with the water level after my coworker said lasers get finicky in dusty rooms, and honestly it worked fine but took way more time. Has anyone else had a laser level crap out on them in a dusty commercial space?

Bro $150 for a laser level? That's wild, I've seen decent ones for way less than that. Dusty rooms are rough on them for sure, but I've used mine in straight up sawdust clouds and it still held up. Your coworker might've been wrong about that part.

You said "decent ones for way less than that" - what's "way less" exactly? Like are we talking $80 or $50? Because I feel like there's a big difference in quality between those price points.
